About me

Hello, I’m a portrait photographer and I love creating natural, emotionally intelligent portraits of people from all walks of life. Shortlisted for the Royal Photographic Society’s Portrait of Britain Award in 2021 (see ‘Orkney Morning’ below), I spent most of 2023 working on a portrait book about loneliness for the internationally renowned School of Life. The book will be published at the end of 2024.

The themes of connection and community run through all of my personal projects, from ‘Shielded’, which I carried out in 2021, to my loneliness project, which is ongoing. The experience of photographing another person always offers a joyful nugget of connection, however fleeting, and never ceases to remind me of our shared humanity and vulnerability.

I unwind by photographing things in nature that move me and make me slow down, from birds in flight to waves on a beach, as well as still life.

My career in photography began after completing a professional photography course at the London School of Photography in 2019. Prior to this I spent more than two decades working in international development and sustainability communications for various charities and small businesses. This included 5 years working in the Palestinian West Bank during the 1990s.
